Porsche hasn’t even kicked off production of the Taycan, but it’s already decided to double production due to the overwhelming demand for its new electric car.

Porsche Taycan production

Porsche confirmed the decision to CNBC where a spokesperson stated that it will increase production from the original 20,000 Taycan EVs a year to 40,000. “We had been ready for it,” Porsche spokesperson Andrew Lennon stated. “We had the ability to increase capacity from the beginning, and executives recently made the decision to go ahead.”

Porsche hasn’t announced the pricing for the Taycan, but it will reportedly start between the Cayenne and Panamera, which means that it will start around $80,000. Sales of the Taycan are expected to kick off by the end of the year.
