Earlier this year Lamborghini confirmed that the Urus SUV will enter production in 2017 and now it’s been revealed that it will be produced at Volkswagen’s plant in Slovakia. The Urus was previewed by the Urus concept back in 2012 and when the production version arrives it will ride on a modified version of VW’s MLB platform, which will also be used by the next-generation Porsche Cayenne.
With new luxury SUVs on coming from Maserati and Bentley, the Lamborghini Urus will appeal to luxury buyers in markets like China, the Middle East and Russia. Maserati is set to release the LEvante SUV next year, while even Rolls Royce is now looking at a possible SUV for its lineup. The Urus will also be Lamborghini’s first SUV since the LM002 disappeared in the early 1990s.
