Honda has been working on the next NSX for quite a while. They released the Advanced Sports Car Concept earlier this year, but shortly after decided to go back to the drawing board to make the car more distinct. Now comes word that the automaker is trying to not only squeeze 500+ horsepower from a 5.0L non-turbo V10 engine, but also achieve 23.5 mpg.
Engineers reportedly set a goal for the new car to achieve a 10.0 km/l rating (equal to 23.5 mpg) rating in Japan’s standard 10.15-mode fuel cycle.
The last NSX Type R with a 3.2L V6 and 276 hp managed only 8.6 km/l.
The car is scheduled to be released at the Tokyo Motor Show this fall.
