The news shouldn’t be all that surprising, but Cadillac has confirmed that the ELR plug-in hybrid will disappear after the current model’s run is done. Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen recently confirmed to Automotive News that there will not be a second generation of the ELR.
“I plan to continue admiring it as one of the most beautiful cars on four wheels” de Nysschen stated. “But we don’t plan further investment” in the coupe.

When will it go away? Cadillac hasn’t confirmed it, but Automotive News is reporting that it will stick around until at least 2018. According to De Nysschen the ELR will stay on the market for as long as people want to buy it. Last year sales of the ELR fell 22 percent to only 1,024 units.
