Honda has officially unveiled the all-new 2014 Honda Fit, which is going on sale in Japan in September before it arrives in the rest of the world.
Well it looks like the photo leak we saw of the next Honda Fit were valid. Honda has unveiled the all-new 2014 Honda Fit aka Jazz, which is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in September before going on sale in the rest of the world.
The new third-generation Fit gets an all-new design that is more aggressive than the first two generations and even incorporates Volvo-like taillights. The interior also gets a full redo with a touchscreen audio system.
In Japan the Fit will be offered with three powertrain options, a 1.3L with 99 horsepower, a 1.5L with 130 horsepower and a new 1.5L Atkinson cycle hybrid system. Honda says that the new Fit will be the first model equipped wiht the Sport Hybrid Intelligent Duel Clutch Drive system, which is Honda’s lightweight and compact one-motor hybrid system suited for small-sized vehicles.
The hybrid system features a 1.5L engine and electric motor that is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The system also uses a lithium-ion battery and an electric servo brake system that increases electrical regenerative efficiency and a fully-electric compressor that reduces engine load. The hybrid system features three driving modes: EV Drive Mode for motor-only driving, the Hybrid Drive Mode for both engine and motor driving and the Engine Drive Mode for engine only driving. Overall the new hybrid system is 35 percent more fuel efficient than the current IMA hybrid system.
