Mercedes-Benz EQC electric SUV will arrive in 2019

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the first model from its EQ electric sub-brand will arrive in 2019. The Mercedes-Benz EQC is currently running through its last series of tests before its debut.

Mercedes-Benz says that EQC prototypes completed tough winter testing in northern Sweden earlier this year and now the electric SUV is undergoing more suspension/powertrain tests as well as integrated complete-vehicle high-temperature testing in southern Europe.

To make sure that it can withstand anything you’ll throw at it, EQC prototypes will soon undergo a stress program in the heat of Spain. Here the effects of temperature during driving is tested under extreme conditions, where the EQC’s electric powertrain and air conditioning will be put to the test.

The EQC was previewed by the Generation EQ concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. When it arrives, the Mercedes-Benz EQC will go head-to-head with a growing range of electric SUVs, like the upcoming Audi e-tron.
