Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new 2019 CLS, which is going to arrive in the U.S. by next fall. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS keeps the same shape as the two previous generations, but with the brand’s new design language with its clearer contours and reduced lines.

“The new CLS is a design icon as the archetype of the four-door coupe. In line with our hot & cool design philosophy, we have reduced its DNA to an extremely puristic level while emotionally charging its beauty,” says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler AG.

At the front the 2019 CLS features a diamond grille that is similar to the rest of the brand’s coupe. The grille also widens towards the base to resemble the contours of the grille on the Mercedes-AMG GT. As you move back, the 2019 CLS has a profile that is similar with its low greenhouse and frameless side windows. At the rear the highlight are new taillights that have a somewhat droopy look, but have a crystalline appearance like the headlights.

Inside the 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS gets an interior design that is similar to the rest of the lineup with your eyes immediately drawn to two large 12.3-inch displays. In the fully digital cockpit, the driver is able to feely configure the information content according to need and the driving situation. Three different styles can be selected depending on preference, mood or to suit the interior appointments: Classic, Sport or Progressive.

There’s also ambient lighting that’s adjustable in 64 colors. When the temperature setting of the air conditioning system is changed, it briefly changes color to show whether the temperature is being made warmer (red) or cooler (blue).

A new Energizing Comfort system links the various comfort systems inside the CLS, like the climate control, seat settings and steering wheel heating. The driver can choose between six settings: Refresh/ Freshness, Warmth, Vitality, Joy, Comfort/ Well-Being, and Training.

The first model we’ll receive is the 2019 CLS450 and CLS450 4Matic. Both versions are powered by a new 3.0L six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The powertrain generates a total 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. But we won’t have to wait too long to see the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53, since it will debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show.
