Lexus has announced that the Lexus RC F GT3 is going to compete this weekend in Sunday’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix. Two 3GT Racing Lexus entries will compete at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.
The two Lexus entries have combined to tally six top-10 class finishes in their last four events as the team pursues the first win for Lexus in North American GT racing. The No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 with drivers Alon, Hawksworth and endurance driver Austin Cindric recorded 3GT Racing’s first top-five finish of the season last Sunday at Watkins Glen International, a fifth-place GTD class result.
Hawksworth turned the fastest lap of the race in the GTD class with a time of 1:44.786 on the 3.4-mile, upstate New York road course – more than two tenths of a second quicker than the next best GTD driver’s lap (1:45.027).
Karam and Pruett also finished in the top-10 in the No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 with a sixth-place result in the third endurance race of the season. The finish by the No. 14 Lexus marked Karam and Pruett’s fourth-consecutive top-10 result for 3GT Racing and the first-year Lexus program.
