2019 Kia Niro EV arrives at the Busan Motor Show

Kia has unveiled the 2019 Kia Niro EV today at the Busan Motor Show. The new fully electric version of the Niro arrives with two battery options that give it a driving range up to 236 miles.

The 2019 Kia Niro EV joins the Niro plug-in hybrid and Niro hybrid models. It’s powered by a 201 horsepower electric motor that gives it a 0-62 mph time of 7.8 seconds. The larger 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack gives the Niro EV a range of 236 miles. Using a 100 kW fast charger, it takes 54 minutes to recharge the Niro EV’s battery to 80%. The smaller 39.2 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack has a range of 149 miles.

The Niro EV stands out from the other Niro models with some unique styling changes. Since there isn’t a combustion engine to cool under the hood, the Niro’s grille has been blanked out. New LED lighting has also been added to both the front and rear of the Niro EV. Inside there’s a new mood lighting system and unique instrument cluster.

The Niro EV will go on sale first in Korea in the second half of 2018 before its offered in other markets.
