You’ll immediately notice that the mid-cycle refresh to the 2019 Jeep Cherokee has thrown out the weird headlights and in its place is more conventional lighting. Instead of having separate lights for the daytime driving lights and the actual headlights, the two have been brought back together to give the 2019 Cherokee a face that isn’t too far off from the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Compass. The rest of the front fascia also gets a redo too with a new bumper and fog lights.
At the rear the taillights look more modern with new LED details and the license plate has been repositioned in the tailgate. Depending on which model you choose, there are also a few other design details, for example the Trailhawk models get a slightly different bumper that’s more off-road friendly, big fender flares, a higher ride height and 17-inch wheels.
Inside the updates to the 2019 Cherokee are smaller, with some new piano-black trim pieces on the dashboard and a slightly redesigned center console. The cargo area is also now three inches wider to give the 2019 Cherokee 27 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat up.
Under the hood there is one new addition – the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder. The 2.0L generates 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft. of torque. The 3.2L V6 is also offered with 271 horsepower and at the base end the 180 horsepower 2.4L Tigershark four-cylinder is available. A nine-speed automatic is the only transmission available.
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee will start rolling into showrooms in a few months.
