2019 Hyundai Santa Fe production kicks off in Alabama

Hyundai has announced that production of the all-new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has kicked off at its plant in Alabama. The Montgomery, Alabama plant also produces the Sonata and Elantra, but to kick off the 2019 Santa Fe almost 3,000 team members took part in a ceremony and parade for the new Santa Fe.

“We’re thrilled about the design and technological features of this generation Santa Fe,” said Dong Ryeol Choi, president and CEO, HMMA. “This SUV features Forward Collision-avoidance Assist; Safe Exit Assist to warn drivers if a car is approaching when they exit the vehicle; and Rear Occupant Alert to remind drivers to check the rear seats when exiting the vehicle.”

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has been completely redesigned and is now offered in Santa Fe and Santa Fe XL versions. The Santa Fe Sport is now dead and the larger Santa Fe XL has three rows of seats to provide room for up to seven passengers.

Buyers will be able to choose from three engine options: a 2.4L four-cylinder with 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft. of torque, a turbocharged 2.0L with 235 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. or a new 2.2L diesel with 190 horsepower and 322 lb-ft. All the engines are mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai has not announced the pricing for the 2019 Santa Fe.
