BMW CEO Harald Kruger has confirmed that the X3 plug-in hybrid will arrive next year as an alternative to the fully electric iX3. The X3 plug-in hybrid will get the same powertrain as the 330e plug-in hybrid, which means that it will be motivated by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that’s mated to an electric motor. The powertrain will generate around 275 horsepower, but we don’t know yet how far the X3 plug-in hybrid will be able to drive in fully electric mode.

The X5 plug-in hybrid gets a more powerful 3.0L six-cylinder engine and an electric motor that generates 394 horsepower. The X5 plug-in hybrid will be able to drive up to 50 miles in electric mode.
