BMW has unveiled the two new M Performance versions of the X5 and X7, the 2020 BMW X5 M50i and BMW X7 M50i. Both models are powered by a 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8 that generates 523-hp and 553 lb-ft. of torque, which is an increase of 67 hp and 74 lb-ft. over the X5 xDrive50i and X7 xDrive50i models.

The V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that uses the navigation system and data from the Active Cruise Control system’s radar sensor to adapt its shift strategy. The rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system also has the ability to send 100 percent of the power to the rear wheels.

The X5 M50i reaches 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, while the X7 M50i right needs 4.5 seconds to reach that speed. Both models have an electronically-limited top speed of 130 mph when equipped with all-season tires and 155 mph when equipped with summer performance tires. Both models also get M Sport Brakes.

The M Performance versions stand out from the rest of the lineup thanks to new front bumpers with larger openings and re-sculpted rocker panels and rear bumpers. Inside the “M50i” logo has been applied to the door sill plates, there’s an M leather steering wheel and gear selector and Vernasca perforated leather upholstery with contrast stitching. The X5 M50i gets an Anthracite headliner, while the X7 M50i features an Alcantara Anthracite headliner.

The 2020 X5 M50i starts at $83,145, while the X7 M50i starts at $100,595 including the destination fees.
