The special Bentley Bentayga will be piloted by Rhys Millen, who will have to average a speed of 60 mph to set the record in the 12.42-mile course that features not only 156 corners, but a 4,720 ft climb.

To compete, only a few modifications were allowed, which includes a roll cage, fire suppression system and racing seat, new tires. To help the Bentayga get around the corners faster, the team removed around 661 pounds from the interior trim. Lastly a sports exhaust was added, a a carbon fiber front splitter, diffuser, side skirts and aerodynamic rear spoiler. Under the hood the special Bentayga is powered by the same 600 horsepower W-12 engine.

“Our preparation for the event has been extremely thorough, and our Bentley Motorsport race engineers have produced a car that demonstrates the Bentayga’s inherent potential to the full,” stated Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush. “It’s now up to Rhys to drive the best run possible – but after his performances in testing, we have every confidence in him. The weather is the one factor we can’t control so we’re hoping for a clear Sunday morning.”

Rhys Millen added, “The combination of 600 bhp, 664 lb ft. and carbon ceramic brakes means that the Bentayga can accelerate and decelerate incredibly hard – and that’s what I’ll be counting on for my run. I can’t wait to get started at the mountain later this week.”
