Audi has unveiled the new TT Sportback Concept, which is another take on the TT following the TT Crossover concept that was unveiled earlier this year. Audi has already confirmed that a third TT model will join the lineup following the Coupe and Roadster models, but it’s not known if it will be a crossover or something sportier like this TT Sportback concept.
Audi describes the TT Sportback concept’s design as the fusion of the new third-generation TT with the four-door A5 Sportback and A7 Sportback models. “In our Audi TT Sportback concept show car, we are now fusing both concepts to form a new member of a potential TT family,” Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Audi Board Member for Technical Development stated. A TT Sportback could also give Audi a competitor to the popular Mercedes-Benz CLA.
Compared to the TT, the TT Sportback concept is 11.4 inches longer, 2.4 inches wider and has a 4.7 inch larger wheelbase. While almost every other dimension is larger than the TT Coupe, the TT Sporback’s height 1.2 inches shorter.
The concept is powered by 2.0L TFSI four-cylinder engine with 400 horsepower and 332 lb-ft. of torque that is mated to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and the quattro all‑wheel drive system. It reaches 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and is rated at 33.6 mpg on the EU cycle.
