2019 Acura RDX Prototype teased ahead of its Detroit debut

Acura has announced that it will unveil the third-generation 2019 Acura RDX Prototype next month at the Detroit Auto Show. The arrival of the 2019 RDX is big news for the brand, since it says that the new RDX is the first in a new generation of Acura models inspired by “Precision Crafted Performance” and it also signals the beginning of a new era for Acura.

The 2019 Acura RDX will receive the most extensive Acura redesign in more than a decade with a sleeker, more “evocative” exterior. The RDX will no longer share its platform with the Honda CR-V and instead will be based on a new, Acura-exclusive platform. The 2019 RDX will borrow design cues from both Acura’s two recent concepts – the Acura Precision Concept and Acura Precision Cockpit.

Acura will officially unveil the 2019 Acura RDX Prototype on January 15. The new RDX could also soon be joined by a smaller crossover in the Acura lineup, since Acura recently filed a patent for the design of the Acura CDX in the U.S.
